A recent survey on telecommunications use has found many Australians don't just love their mobile phones… they freely admit to being addicted to them.
The QUT research found 20 per cent of survey participants identified as being high or heavy mobile phone users with monthly bills often reaching in excess of $500 per month.
Apparently the average Australian spends over an hour on their mobile phone each day; this time consists of 35 minutes of texting and 25 minutes of talking.
Researchers say signs of mobile phone addition include: "big bills, using a phone while driving or working and having irrational reactions to being without a mobile."

You forgot to add that some of those interviewed spent $5,000 per month on their mobile phone bill, that others put their lives in danger to keep a signal to finish a text message, that not getting a call or message in a 30 minute period meant they were out of the loop.
I'm always wary of such "research" as it reminds me of ....
“The average American, Canadian, New Zealander or Australian has one breast and one testicle. But I don’t recollect having ever met many people who fit that description.” — Unknown
